Learnership Overview – Credit Clerk (Finance Department)
Location: Cure Day Hospitals Head Office, Erasmuskloof, Pretoria
Duration: 12 months (Full-time Learnership)
Stipend: Market-related monthly allowance
This learnership offers practical, hands-on training and mentorship in a professional finance environment. It’s the perfect stepping stone for candidates looking to build a successful career in accounting and finance within the healthcare sector.
Key Responsibilities & Learning Areas
As a Credit Clerk Learner, you will be exposed to various aspects of financial operations, including but not limited to:
- Daily and monthly cashbook processing and reconciliation
- Assisting in the preparation and loading of weekly/monthly payments via electronic banking systems
- Updating and managing payment applications
- Verifying successful payment transactions and resolving any payment-related queries
- Assisting with monthly supplier invoice processing and ensuring compliance with company authorization policies
- Conducting monthly supplier account reconciliations
- Handling supplier queries and maintaining accurate records
- Liaising with hospital staff regarding purchasing and supplier issues
- Managing supplier account ageing to stay within 30-day payment cycles
- Initiating refund requests when applicable
- Opening new supplier accounts and maintaining documentation
- Regular filing and maintaining an organized workspace
- Meeting strict finance deadlines
- Providing additional support to the Group Financial Accountant as required
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this learnership, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Basic knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Sage Evolution or Microsoft Dynamics) is advantageous
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Eagerness to learn and a positive, can-do attitude
- Strong sense of responsibility and deadline-driven
