Lephalale TVET College Learnerships 2025: Solar Photovoltaic Technician Programme

The Lephalale TVET College, in partnership with the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (MerSeta), is proud to announce the 2025 Learnership Programme for Solar Photovoltaic Technicians (Technical Mentors).

This learnership offers a unique opportunity for young South Africans passionate about renewable energy to gain specialized technical skills, while actively contributing to the country’s shift toward a sustainable, green energy future.

With only three (3) positions available, this is a competitive and highly sought-after opportunity for those looking to build a career in one of the fastest-growing sectors in South Africa.

About the 2025 Solar Photovoltaic Learnership Programme

This structured learnership programme is designed to provide technical mentors with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to train future solar energy professionals. As a Technical Mentor, you will help deliver the QCTO-accredited Solar Photovoltaic Service Technician Qualification, leveraging:

  • Digital learning platforms
  • State-of-the-art simulation-based practical training equipment

This initiative reflects Lephalale TVET College’s commitment to bridging the skills gap in the renewable energy sector, aligning with South Africa’s national goals for green energy transformation and youth employment.

Minimum Requirements for the 2025 Lephalale TVET College Learnerships Program 

To be eligible for the 2025 Lephalale TVET College Learnership, applicants must meet the following academic and technical qualifications:

  • A Senior Certificate / National Senior Certificate with Mathematics as a passed subject OR
  • An NCV Level 4 Certificate with Mathematics AND
  • A National N Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Note: Trade Certificate not required)

Additional Attributes:

  • Strong interest in renewable energy technologies
  • Comfortable working with digital learning tools
  • Ability to guide and mentor learners through practical simulations

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Successful candidates will take on the following key responsibilities:

  • Delivering theoretical and practical training for the Solar Photovoltaic Service Technician qualification
  • Utilizing digital platforms for teaching and learner support
  • Facilitating hands-on training using simulated practical equipment
  • Ensuring all training aligns with QCTO standards and MerSeta guidelines
