Cementation Africa Training Academy is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for its 2025 Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Learnership Programme. These 18.2 (Non-Employed) learnerships are open to individuals referred by a Cementation Africa employee who wish to build a career in occupational health, safety, and environmental management.

About the Cementation Africa H&SE Learnership 2025

This Occupational Health, Safety and Environment NQF Level 2 Learnership is designed to equip learners with the fundamental skills, knowledge, and understanding required to work safely and efficiently in any workplace environment — particularly in the mining and industrial sectors.

Through this six-month programme, learners will gain practical and theoretical experience in key HSE concepts, focusing on workplace safety, risk assessment, and environmental responsibility. The qualification also supports career advancement within the occupational health and safety field, providing opportunities for further learning and professional growth.

Key Learning Outcomes

Successful candidates will be able to:

  • Understand and apply basic health, safety, and environmental principles in the workplace.
  • Identify and evaluate occupational risks and hazards that could impact worker health and safety.

Programme Duration

  • Duration: 6 months
  • Location: Cementation Africa Training Academy, Carletonville

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the 2025 H&SE Learnership:

  • Education:
    • Grade 10 or 11 (must provide a school report with an official school stamp)
    • Grade 12 will be advantageous
  • Employment Status: Must be unemployed
  • Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen
  • Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Health: Medically fit to work in an underground mining environment
  • Background: No criminal record
  • Safety Requirements: Female candidates must not be pregnant (for safety reasons)
  • Substance Policy: Cementation Africa enforces a zero-tolerance policy on alcohol and illegal substances. All candidates will undergo testing during onboarding and randomly throughout the programme.
  • Transport: Must be able to travel at own cost to and from the Training Academy in Carletonville every second week.
  • Other: Must not be registered for any other learnership programme.
