Purpose of the Learnership Programme

Who Can Apply for the Impala Platinum (Implats) Learnerships 2025?

To be considered for the 2025 Implats Learnerships, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications and criteria:

  • A minimum N2 Certificate with four subjects, or
  • NCV Level 4 qualification (with all 7 subjects completed and Mathematics passed with 40% or more).
  • A completed Serviceman Training Programme is essential.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to:
    • Undergo assessments and receive a recommendation before being shortlisted for interviews.
    • Obtain a valid Medical Fitness Certificate (Red Ticket).
    • Complete Risk Facilitator Assessment (RFA) and Heat Tolerance Screening (HTS).

Key Responsibilities and Duties

During the learnership period, successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Participate in structured training to achieve a recognized Artisan Qualification.
  • Assist qualified artisans in daily technical duties including:
    • Equipment repair, maintenance, and installation.
    • Fabrication and construction using approved engineering principles.
    • Perform engineering maintenance tasks while following safety protocols.
    • Complete all formal training phases, both on-the-job and off-site, as required by the programme.
    • Familiarize themselves with and adhere to Implats’ operational rules, procedures, and industry regulations.
    • Work closely with assigned coaches (qualified artisans or foremen) and demonstrate continuous skill development in supervised environments.
    • Perform basic fault diagnosis and problem-solving in engineering systems and machinery.
    • Contribute to reducing production downtime through effective equipment maintenance.
    • Practice limited supervisory roles to develop basic leadership and supervision skills.
